One Call Away

“And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Acts 2:21

This morning I want to tell you something that can possibly change your life forever. It’s very simple, yet something that most people find so hard to do. Here we go, the only way that a man or a woman that is alive on this earth can be saved from their eternal sin debt that is known hell, is if they call upon the name of God.

Jesus Christ made a sacrifice for us by giving His life so that we could have eternal life with God the Father. The only way that we can experience everything that Christ has for us in this life is to come to Him by the way of the cross. Jesus did not go to the cross for us to stay the same. And one thing we have to understand as Christians is that our journey doesn’t end at the cross, but it has just begun.

Hebrews 7:25 says “Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Let that verse soak in to your soul for a minute. God loved us enough to give us a second chance at our lives and Jesus loved us enough to obey God’s command to give His life for us so that we could have eternal life. Friends if that’s not love I don’t know what it is, and if that doesn’t make you crave to know who God is more, I don’t know what will. There’s no other way to be saved, but only by the blood of Jesus. You can’t buy your way into Heaven, because Jesus has already paid the entry fee for you in the form of His life!

Ponder this verse were looking at this morning, the difference between an eternity in Heaven and Hell is simply a profession of God as your savior. If you were to take a ruler and measure the distance between your temple on your head and your heart you would find that the distance is around 12 inches. Amazing to think that we could have all the knowledge of who God is, yet never believe it and confess it and welcome Him into our hearts. 12 inches can literally separate someone from Heaven and Hell. Think about it. Many people will believe, but only few follow.

Have you truly confessed and called upon God as your savior? He wants a relationship with you, He wants the whole world to be saved, that was whole reason He sent Jesus here! (John 3:16.) God is begging you to call upon His name, because He wants to make a mighty change in your life. Will you allow Him to do so? What a mighty and loving God we serve!
