The Only Way

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

John 14:6

Despite what many people may believe, there is only one way to Father God, and that is through His son, Jesus. If you don not come to the Cross at which Jesus died and lay down your own life, then you will never be able to see our Heavenly Father.

One thing I hear all the time as a pastor is this “ I’m a good person, so I am sure God will let me into Heaven.” What an entitled statement. That’s great that someone may be a good person, but that doesn't mean they're going to Heaven. I promise you that if we were able to look into the depths of Hell right now we would find many “good people” who never chose to follow our good good Father. In fact none of us are as good as we think we are, we all fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23.)

Still don't believe me? Look at the thief on the cross who was hung next to Jesus. Now, this man deserved to die because of the crimes he had committed, but Jesus didn't deserve His death. Jesus’ death was a willing and sacrificial death. That thief was on the cross for a reason, and I would dare to say that reason is because he wasn't a “good person.” Yet today we will find that man walking the streets of gold in heaven, rejoicing. All because he called upon Jesus to save his soul. So let’s not get this twisted, there is no way that you or I can get to Heaven without first coming to the cross of Christ and laying down our lives to follow Him.

It is impossible for you to pay your way into Heaven by money or by good deeds, because Jesus has already paid the debt that we owe by giving His life on the cross for us. He, is the only that we will be able to come face to face with our Father. There is no other way, because Jesus is the only way.
