What To Do When You Don't Know What To Do

Psalms 34:17-18

“The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all”

Who’s hurting? Who’s broken? Who has lost all hope? Maybe this is you. Maybe you are going through the greatest trial and storm you've ever been through in your life right now. You feel the pain as soon as your eyes open in the morning and you feel it when you close your eyes at night before you lay down to sleep. You don't know what to do and you've tried everything. But have you tried Jesus?

Look, I know that’s a real pastor thing to say but it’s true! When we don't know what to do, God does. Even better than that is that God knows exactly what you are going through and He knows the battle that is going on in your life.

So what do we do? Cry out. Scream. Plead. Beg. But more importantly, PRAY. Only God can fully deliver us from the troubles and trials in our lives and give us total peace. There are things that you may use to cope with your pain, but understand that those things only bring a moment of peace while Christ brings you an eternity of peace.

I’m sure I know where you are at. You pray and there seems to be no answer. It seems like your prayers don't even make it through the ceiling. The one thing we have to understand about God is that when He seems to be so silent is when He does His greatest work. The world may have given up on you and it may even seem like God has given up on you. I’ve been there I know the feeling. Trust me, He hasn’t.

I know what you're thinking, how do you know that? One verse tells us that God doesn't give up on us. John 19:30 “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” The completion of Jesus’ journey to the cross. Jesus had all the power to give up, to stop, to call the angels and take Him down off the cross. But He didn't and the reason He didn't is because He loved us so much that He pressed on through the greatest trial any man has ever gone through just to save us from our sins and from depth of Hell. So next time you think God has given up on you, remember the Cross, because that’s proof that God gives up on no man, rather man gives up on God.

God is with you in this battle you are facing. Pray, scream, ask Him why. He will power you through this struggle IF you will allow Him to have this struggle. The reason I believe it takes us so long to get through these battles in our lives is because we hold on to them for so long. God wants you to give the battle to Him. When we do, great peace comes with that.

I’ll leave you with this today, there are many words to describe who God is. Friend who is reading this and struggling in life right now the best way for me to describe God to you in this moment is Deliverer. It says it in (v. 19) of our text this morning that He will deliver us. That means in our storms, trials, troubles, and battles He is the Deliverer that guides us through the struggles we are facing. Don’t let this battle you are facing leave you feeling limited in your walk with God, because we serve a limitless God. Ask God what to do and I promise He will show you. Be patient and allow Him to do this great work in your life. You'll come out of this struggle with a powerful testimony of how God changed your life.

So what do we do when we don't know what to do? Keep seeking God, because He knows exactly what to do.

Maybe you are even on the brink of giving up. Do not give up on God, because God didn’t, doesn’t, and hasn’t given up on you.
