Out With The Old In With The New

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts

Galatians 5:24

I love the old saying “out with the old, in with the new.” Life is full of second chances. I promise you this, nobody gives us more of a second chance than God does. Think about it, no matter how far we have gone away from Him, He is always there calling us to come home. When we do come home He isn't there to scorn us or scold us, but He welcomes us home with arms wide open to embrace us in His love.

With these second chances something has to happen though. There has to be a change. Jesus didn't die for our sins so that we could remain the same, He died to give us a new life that brings us out of a sinful life and into an everlasting life. When we come to the cross and lay down our lives at the feet of Christ we should no longer be focused on worldly living, but on kingdom living.

See some Christians have it all wrong. Our journey doesn't end at the Cross of Christ, it has just begun. When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior we are no longer a slave to the flesh but a conqueror for Christ (Romans 8:37.) The Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:22-24 “to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”

When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior then there should be a change. We should be striving for transformation by the spirit and not giving into conformation of the world. The Gospel changes souls and transforms lives. The biggest issue we face is getting out of God’s way and allowing Him to live through us. Strive to live a Christ centered life and you will see God crucify those fleshly things one by one, because guess what, we can’t get those things out of our life, only God can. Trust Him because He can and will change you, even if it takes a while.

The Christian life is a process of growth, we just have to get out of God’s way and allow Him to do the transforming in our lives.

Question For The Day: What are the things God is telling me to get rid of in my life?

Prayer: “God, help me to put away my sins and my flesh. Reveal to me the sins that I am struggling with and help me to trust that you will change me and transform me into the follower you have called me to be.”
