Be Still And Know

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Psalm 46:10

We are continuing on from yesterday with a call from God to just be still. Wouldn't life be so much easier if we would just take a step back and let God take control of our lives. We tend to struggle with this. Why? The answer to that question is easy. It is hard for us to let someone else have control of our situation.

Here’s the cool thing. God knows your battle. God knows your fear. God knows your heart. He knows everything about you. You may be going through the most troubling time in your life that you've ever been through right now, but what you have to realize is that not only is God with you, but the savior of the world is the one who is in control of whatever you may be facing. Wether it is a sickness, a family issue, a personal issue, or if it is your battle with sin, God is with us and is in control of this battle you are facing.

One time I was working at a place where they fed the homeless. I had the opportunity to share the Gospel with the men and women who were coming through the line before they were able to get their food. God was at work. I met a woman named Mrs. Stella. Mrs. Stella wasn't homeless but she was definitely less fortunate, she was on the verge of losing everything, her home, her job, and even her family. On top of this she had informed me that she had been diagnosed with cancer. But she said one thing that has stuck with me for nearly five years now. Mrs. Stella said “God is with me Jonathan, He always puts His strongest warriors through the toughest battles.” This woman understood this verse and also understood something else that is so beautiful, sometimes we may lose certain battles, but when Christ died for us on the Cross, we won the war.

David was being chased throughout the Psalms and on the verge of being killed, yet through these Psalms he was abel to sing praises to his Lord in the middle of his battles. And in the 46th Psalm he blesses us with this great testimony.

Be still and know God is working through these things in your life to grow you and shape you into a mighty warrior for His kingdom. Don’t be a worrier when God has called you to be a warrior.

Questions to ask ourselves: Why is it so hard to give my battle over to God? Am I a worrier or a warrior?

Prayer: “Lord, help me to be more trusting in you. God help my worries and doubts be calmed by the evidence of your love and control of my life. Lord help me to be still as you reign in me.”
