Who Are You Walking With?

"My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.”

Proverbs 1:15-16

The Christian life is a journey. The people you take on this journey with you is vital to maintaining an upright walk with God. We need people who will challenge us, grow with us, and support us. The journey will never be easy for us as Christians, as we are in a constant battle with sin, this is the reason we need people in our lives who will journey with us and not pull us deeper into the world and into sin.

Sometimes you have to emotionally cut people out of your lives. Trust me, I have lost so many

friends because I have stood in my faith and refused to fall to the temptation they have provided in my life. It stinks to lose close friends, but it is rewarding to be drawn closer to God. We must be constantly walking closer and closer to God with every step that we take in this life.

If there is a person in your life who is hindering your daily walk with Christ then it may be time to reevaluate your friendship. The beautiful thing about the journey towards God’s Throne is that everything we do is a learning opportunity to grow closer to God. That doesn't mean that we just constantly do what we want, but rather week seek what God’s desire for our life is and constantly pursue what He has for us.

So, who are you journeying with? Surround yourself with Godly people in your life who will enhance your walk with Christ instead of pulling you away from Him. I bet if I told you to think of one person who is severely damaging your walk with Christ that at least one person you know comes to mind. Preferably we want to bring those people with us on this journey of life, however some don't want to make this journey. Do not stop investing in those people and pouring the Gospel into their life, but you can’t force someone to do something they have no desire to do.

Surround yourself with people who support your walk with Christ. Life is a journey and step by step we are journeying towards our Father’s presence in our eternal Home.
