James 1:22

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
What an amazing statement by the half brother of Jesus. We must deeply ponder this question, am I doing what God’s word is calling me to do? For most of us the answer is more than likely no, I am not. As Christians we must understand that not doing what God has called us to do, is a sin and it is just as much of a sin as any other sin. The reason is this, you are being disobedient to a call that God has put on your life! We can all come in on a Sunday morning and listen to a Pastor preach a sermon and be motivated by it, but once we leave the doors of the church we are attending it seems as if that motivation goes away. As a Christian nothing should motivate you to share the Gospel more than the fact that there are lost people who are going to Hell. Christian, wake up, God needs you to facilitate the Gospel to the lost people in this world. Jesus even commissions us to do so in the book of Matthew, chapter 28:19-20. We all have that one person who we know is lost and needs a personal, intimate, and devoted relationship with Jesus Christ. Get out and share how Christ changed and saved your life. Lost souls are going to Hell because Christians are afraid to leave their comfort zone and share the Gospel!
We can read, study, and listen to God’s word being preached, but if we aren't applying what we are learning to our life then we will never experience the transformation that Paul calls us to have in the book of Romans chapter 12:1-2. Living a life for God isn't just a Sunday morning experience, it is a day to day battle in which God’s word is our greatest weapon against the adversary known as Satan. Thank goodness we have the greatest leader, who is God, leading us into battle against the world. The only way that we can be a part of the army of God is to do what He has called us to do. You can’t lead from a distance. God has called Christians to be leaders in this fallen world and to infiltrate the world with His saving word.
I’ll end this post with a simple statement to the Christian who is reading this, if you're going to talk the talk, then you must walk the walk. Be a leader for Christ and be a doer of God’s word, not just a hearer. As Christians we must go beyond ourselves, lay our selfish lives down and passionately pursue God’s call and purpose for our lives. I promise you His will for our life is greater than our own.
